Din to digital photo frame question

Hey all I'm new to the forum. Just got myself a C64 and planning on purchasing MSSIAH.

Luckily it came with the Terminator 2 cart which also has Modern Music Maker on it, which features a standard tracker (hex nightmare!) and a live play mode, where you can edit the synth parameters and play the notes with the C64 keys. Good fun until I get MSSIAH!

I have an old digital photo frame which has mini-jack video in. This could be perfect to use, I'm just trying to figure out the routing. I have a cable with mini-jack on one side and phono on the other.

Question - Would it work (in theory) if I used a 5-pin Din (as these are easy to get as opposed to the 8) to RCA, a phono extender on the yellow phono cable and the video phono to mini jack connecting it to the photo frame?

Some say the 5 pin dins can work, you're just missing the chroma pin, but some tvs don't need that. I wonder what are the odds a photo frame would need it.

Thanks!

Re: Din to digital photo frame question

Wow this forum is quiet!

Update:

Figured this out myself and have it working, but not the way I had assumed it would.

Basically, it worked with a 5 pin din to 4 cable RCA and some phono extenders. The mini video jack has black & yellow phonos on the other end. The working routing was: Mini jack in picture frame AV port, yellow AV to phono extender to yellow RCA (this is actually the audio), black AV to phono extender to red (colour video!). Simple, no cable hacking needed. Might be useful to anyone else connecting to photo frames or similar little screens, I guess PS One screen included.

The first time I had it working I connected the black AV cable to the white RCA cable, which gave me a black & white image. I thought I'd have to do some cable rewiring/merging to get colour. The weird thing is sometimes the BASIC screen would look like it was in colour, with a hint of blue, but the T2 cart would be black & white. Anyway no complaints now, off to a good start.

Yes this place is very quiet.

I'm glad you got things working. What screen is it you are using... I've been thinking on doing the PSOne screen, but haven't found one yet... What is your screen called? Is there a place online I can order one or a store where you got it? If you could link me I would be grateful.

Also I would like you see pictures of your fix.

Re: Din to digital photo frame question

It's just a generic, nameless old photo frame I had lying around for a few years. I don't know how common it is for them to have AV inputs but worth a look. I removed the ugly plastic frame around it easily enough so it's quite compact. Will post pictures.

Re: Din to digital photo frame question

I was checking out the photo frames at best buy a few weeks ago and none of them had video inputs, only memory card slots.

Check out these, they look similar to what I have - http://www.global-battery.co.uk/xmas-id … s-gift.htm

Though UK based, Im sure you can find similar models in the US.
